EMIRATES Central Cooling Corporation (Empower) said that consumption of district cooling provided by the company rose by 13.6 per cent in July 2011 compared to the same period last year.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower said that the increase was due to the higher occupancy in areas like Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), Al Khail Gate, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Business Bay Executive Towers (BBET).

“New buildings in Business Bay, Ghoroub Mirdif and Tecom C which have been added to our portfolio, in addition to the kick-off of new plants mainly in Business Bay have fuelled this increase in July 2011,” he added.
