APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in critical power and cooling services, has installed InfraStruXure and InRow RD units to protect and cool Microsoft’s virtualised environment at the Yamamah University in Riyadh, and a Tier 3+ dark data centre for Arab National Bank (ANB).
The entire data centre at Yamamah was designed with comprehensive and integrated solutions facilitating the university to set up the Microsoft Innovation Centre. The remote management capabilities and APC’s centralised monitoring appliances has helped manage and monitor the data centre, apart from managing its power and cooling systems.
The innovative InRow RD units provided the targeted precision cooling that automatically adapts to fluctuating high-density heat loads and dynamic hot spots. The project also deployed new InfraStruxure Operations PRO Pack that provides insight into how the virtual machine relates to the physical environment.
Separately, for ANB, the new mission critical data centre supports its core banking system, numerous other critical financial applications as well as the main communication equipment and other essential data related services.
The facility will host all the services provided to ANB branches, telemoney centres, ATMs and ANB customer’s services, as ANB has around 900 ATMs, 178 branches and 78 telemoney centres, and 5000 PCs kingdom wide.
Highlighting the importance of the new facility, Kumail Dehradunwala, head of information technology, Arab National Bank said: “APC’s HACS (hot air containment systems) technology is truly state-of-the-art and provides much better efficiency for high density blade servers and helps eliminate hot spots to deliver long-term scalability. The InfraStruXure Central management software’s ease of management, failure alerts and integration with the BMS solution sealed the deal.”
