ZAMIL Steel, a veteran with 33 years of experience in the pre-engineered buildings (PEBs) sector, remains a preferred choice in its field in the Saudi as well as regional and global markets. The company is now looking at enhancing its operational processes with a view to ensuring customer satisfaction.
In addition, the Dammam-based firm has embarked on marketing pre-fabricated housing products through a specialised unit called Zamil Prefabricated Houses (www.HouseZ.co) to cater to sectors that have huge demands for commercial, industrial and residential accommodation.
“This division will target different sectors and is a timely response to the call for affordable housing units,” says Hatem Turki, BPG (Building Products Group) corporate marketing manager.
Zamil Steel has supplied to a diverse range of major projects such as shopping complexes, steel factories, school and college buildings, textile factories, airport and power station facilities, cold stores and warehouses. Over the past year, some of its notable projects in Saudi Arabia have included the Al Othaim Commercial Complex in Dammam, National Guard training facilities in Khasma, Sojitz Corporation Japan in Tanajib, classrooms at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Kaust) in Rabigh, and Dywidag Saudi Arabia facilities in Jubail. This apart, it has provided its steel buildings for Darfur Reconstruction and Development scheme in Sudan; Knitwear premises in Dhaka (Bangladesh); Food Processing factory in Lahore (Pakistan); and Techno Pack Industries facilities (Syria).
Zamil Steel’s PEB division in Dammam has witnessed an increase in business over the past year, and has surpassed its
sales targets.
Turki says that despite the effect of the recent economic crisis on the construction industry, the company’s customer focus and strong brand image in the PEB sector have ensured that it remains competitive in the market.
“Presently, we are comfortably achieving targets set by the management mainly because of the resurgence in the construction sector. Despite the present turmoil in some key markets, the Zamil Steel brand and its competitiveness will help the company rise above these challenges and strengthen its foothold in the market,” says Turki.

In addition, the current political unrest sweeping the region has in fact proved to be “a catalyst for massive government spending that will allow numerous business sectors to increase productivity. This can create a domino effect that can spur the industry to achieve greater gains in their different niches,” he states.
“We are quite bullish, given that there are numerous market indicators for continuous growth and demand for PEB structures as well as the technology itself,” he adds.
The company, however, is not resting on its laurels but introducing improvements to work processes that will impact on customer satisfaction, thus ensuring its competitiveness in the market.
“We want to do this by becoming more customer-centric,” Turki says.
