Expanding presence

Kwikset ... superior.

STANLEY Black & Decker, a diversified global provider of hand tools, power tools and related accessories, mechanical access and electronic security solutions and engineered fastening systems, has plans to expand its presence in the Middle East over the next year, concentrating on the Saudi Arabian marketplace by establishing distributors and showrooms throughout the country.

“The goal for Stanley Black & Decker is to become a prominent business partner of the region, offering products ranging from luxurious door hardware to plumbing solutions for the home with brands such as Baldwin Hardware and Pfister,” says a spokesman for the company.

Stanley Black & Decker, which has been serving the Saudi market for many years, offers architecturally-inspired and preferred warrantied products, all backed by a Fortune 500 company that has been in business since 1843.

The Stanley Black & Decker Hardware and Home Improvement Group (HHI) – part of the company’s mechanical access solutions division – develops, manufactures, markets and sells builders’ hardware, residential and commercial door hardware, kitchen and bath faucets, shower systems and bath accessories under the Stanley, National Hardware, Kwikset, Weiser, Baldwin, Geo Hardware and Pfister brands.

Currently targeted at the Saudi market are the Baldwin, Kwikset, Pfister and Geo Hardware lines, which offer innovative, durable and quality products in a variety of finishes and designs to satisfy the most discerning requirements.

We offer products in all price ranges, from our luxurious Baldwin door hardware products to our entry-level Geo Hardware door hardware products to complement all types of projects,” says the spokesman.

For 65 years, Baldwin Hardware has delivered modern luxury to homeowners, architects and designers through superior design, craftsmanship and functionality. The firm manufactures an extensive family of superior architectural and decorative products for residential and commercial use in a variety of finishes, including its proprietary Lifetime Finishes.

Its products signify quality and innovation, with offerings that include hardware, locksets, as well as bath and cabinetry accessories. All portfolios are available in a rich variety of finishes and textures.

Baldwin has a rich history of producing both historically accurate and truly original designs. “Our design team is deeply immersed in the study of architecture and design. They keep abreast with the latest trends and observe the subtle style cues found in historical artifacts. Whether the focus is colonial, contemporary or an eclectic mix from cultures around the world, Baldwin’s designers have a deep respect for history and detail,” says the spokesman.

Baldwin has new distributors – Saudi Etqaan and Mawad – in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Etqaan intends to open showrooms in Jeddah and Riyadh, and Riyadh-based Mawad will be working primarily with architects, specifying projects with Baldwin Hardware.

Another door hardware brand offered by Stanley Black & Decker is Kwikset, which manufactures and markets a complete line of door locks and door hardware including door knobs, door levers, deadbolts, handle sets, pocket door hardware and electronic keyless entry locks for residential and light commercial applications.

“Millions of families have relied on Kwikset for security and peace of mind,” says the spokesman. “At Kwikset, we think people shouldn’t have to settle for less when it comes to home security.

For over 60 years, we’ve believed that innovation is our greatest asset. “Technology can deliver both quality and convenience. And the strongest insights come from understanding the people who use our products and how they use them. Everything we’ve learned has led us to one simple premise – the best security is smart security.”

Kwikset recently developed the SmartKey platform that encompasses tubular, mortise and rim lock products.

SmartKey is a revolutionary, patented technology that replaces traditional pin and tumbler design. It includes BumpGuard for improved security against lock-bumping, an attack technique that can defeat traditional pin and tumbler locks. It also allows to easily re-key different Kwikset locks to one key.

Meanwhile, Price Pfister – which last year simplified its name to Pfister – has been planning, designing, and creating faucets for a century and maintains its legacy and commitment to providing high quality and innovative faucets backed by a lifetime warranty.

“Pfister has come a long way since that first garden faucet in 1910. It now offers a wide range of products from kitchen and bath faucets to sanitary ware. Its designs range from traditional to transitional to contemporary in a variety of finishes that suit all design intents,” the spokesman says.

Pfister delivers innovative products designed with the end-consumer in mind, providing quality and unique styles in all price points. In Saudi Arabia, its distributors Aqua Technology and Saudi Etqaan will continue to build upon its business within the marketplace by opening showrooms and specifying Pfister products in architectural projects.

Another brand that focuses on the end-consumer is Geo Security Hardware, whose products are put through rigorous testing to ensure their quality.

Apart from standard products, Stanley Black & Decker also offers custom-designed solutions for certain types of projects at its design centre. “From sketch to production, our experts can transform your inspiration and deliver a custom faucet or door hardware solution using our proven four-step design process – intent, design, engineer and produce,” says the spokesman.

According to him, collaboration begins by reviewing architectural details of the project, rendering of a guestroom or even rough sketches to define design intent. Next, the in-house designers use state-of-the-art equipment to develop the shape and form of the design. “Based on original design intent, our industrial design team will provide 10 to 12 faucet or door hardware renderings for your review,” says the spokesman.

Following this, the engineering team will develop 3D models integrating the company’s proven valve technology to establish functionality. “Our priority is to ensure your design intent is maintained throughout the entire process,” says the spokesman.

And finally, using state-of-the-art 3D printers, rapid prototypes are developed to confirm the scale and proportionality for final design selection. “Once the final design is approved, the industrial design team will convert the chosen design into working samples for mock-up rooms as needed, at no charge,” he says.

Stanley Black & Decker, an S&P 500 listed company, is headquartered in New Britain, Connecticut, US. Stanley Black & Decker HHI, which is headquartered in Orange County, California, has a global sales force and operates manufacturing and distribution facilities in the US, Canada, Mexico and Asia.
