
GULF Plastic Industries (Gulfplas) has boosted its product portfolio with the addition of ASTM pressure fittings, which will be available on the market this month.
Available as cPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) versions, the company currently offers ½-inch, ¾-inch and 1-inch fittings and will expand the choice of sizes depending on market demand.
Gulfplas has also been increasing its production capacity to meet rising customer requirements. The recent commissioning of a new polypropylene random (PP-R) pipes extrusion line was followed by the introduction of a new extrusion line to manufacture various sizes of medium-density and high-density polyethylene pipes (MDPE and HDPE).
One of the first industrial ventures established in Bahrain to manufacture thermoplastic pipes and fittings, Gulfplas manufactures u-PVC, CPVC, PP-R, LDPE, HDPE pipes to internationally recognised standards including BS, ASTM, DIN, NEMA, AS and ISO recommendations.
Established in 1968, Gulfplas is the first plastic processors established in the Middle East and now located in Bahrain International Investment Park on a total land area of 30,000 sq m.
“Quality has always been the cornerstone of our business,” says the spokesman, adding that the company’s products are tested locally as well as in the UK, the US and Kuwait.
Some of the key projects it has been involved with include the Khalifa bin Salman Port and Bahrain International Investment Park in Hidd, Durrat Al Bahrain, Amwaj Island, Bahrain Financial Harbour, City Garden, Bahrain World Trade Centre, and Al Areen Water Park.
About 70 per cent of its products are exported to countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Yemen, Oman, Pakistan and India. The company has a strong presence in Saudi Arabia through its associate company Plastic Products Establishment, based at Al Khobar.
Gulfplas has about 130 highly qualified professionals and skilled workers, of which 56 per cent are Bahraini.
