Conmex to make November debut

Conmex, the Middle East’s first exclusive four-day trade exhibition for the construction industry will debut on November 25 this year.

The show is organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UAE.
“The Middle East construction industry is one of the fastest growing in the world,” says Saif Al Midfa, director general of Expo Centre Sharjah. “However, the region lacks a comprehensive sourcing platform that is capable of catering to the growing demands of the construction sector. Conmex, given its exclusive and unique exhibit profile is aimed at filling that void,” he adds.
The exhibition being held at the Expo Centre, Sharjah will showcase the entire range of construction-related machinery, equipment, and vehicles used in the construction process including plant and machinery, commercial vehicles, lifting and conveying equipment, construction equipment, tools and special systems, formwork and scaffolding, and construction site facilities among others.
“The Middle East construction industry is currently experiencing an unprecedented boom both in the public and the private sector. At present, there are 1,400 on-going projects in the Gulf region with a value of around $697 billion, of which the UAE accounts for $221 billion comprising 32 per cent of the projects and Saudi Arabia accounting $146 billion comprising 21 per cent. The total spend in construction in the GCC, Iran, and Iraq, is currently running at $294 billion,” says a spokesman for Expo Centre.
“The rise in construction activities in the region has resulted in a huge consequent demand for related machinery, equipment, and vehicles with around 30,000 towering cranes in operation in Dubai alone. The annual market demand just for used machinery in the Middle East is valued at over Dh 5 billion ($1.36 million),” he adds.
