Septech of the UAE has won a contract to build a ‘boutique’ marina at the new Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat, Oman.

The marina, which will have over 60 berths, will be custom-built and installed by Septech, which is in partnership in the Middle East with Bellingham Marine Australia (BMA).
The partnership will enable Septech to manufacture and install the Unifloat floating concrete system, renowned for its superior stability and quality.
“The seabed at this site is made up largely of rocks,” says David Heffernan, managing director, Septech. “When we build marinas, we individually engineer them for their durability and in this instance, we’ve recommended Unifloat floating concrete pontoons and the use of Seaflex anchors because the conditions are not suited to the traditional use of steel piles.”
Septech is offering turnkey solutions for the marina that will be capable of accommodating all vessels typically found at resorts. “Our marina design is practical for the conditions on this part of the coast and is also aesthetically right for the prestigious nature of the Shangri-La group,” he adds.
A coral reef nearby will attract divers and the resort will also provide a diving school. The marina will house commercial, pleasure and corporate boats.
