The Saudi Water and Electricity Company (SWEC) and a consortium of Saudi and Malaysian companies have signed a SR9.129 billion ($2.434 billion) agreement for the first independent water and power project (IWPP) in the kingdom, located on the Red Sea coast, 110 km south of Jeddah.
The Shuaiba 3 project will daily produce 880,000 cu m of water and 900 MW of electricity to Makkah, Jeddah, Taif and Al Baha.
