$544m resort for Bahrain

Dubai International Properties (DIP) plans to develop a beach resort and spa in Bahrain at a cost of Dh2 billion ($544.5 million).

The Salam Beach Resort and Spa, to be built over a 500,000 sq m beachfront area close to the Formula 1 track, will include a five-star deluxe hotel, a traditional suq, hotel villas and a spa, a marina and a wellness centre.
It will involve the construction of a network of canals spanning 5 km to run throughout the site in order to maximise the waterfront scenery. The project is to be completed in March 2009.
The Salam Beach Resort & Spa Bahrain will be the second DIP project with such a name and is in line with DIP’s strategy to build a ‘Salam Resort & Spa’ global brand name, says chief executive Farhan Faraidooni.
“Like all our projects in various parts of the Gulf, the Bahrain development will stand out with its own unique identity, based not only on the architecture or the look of the project, but also on its unique interior decor and the outstanding services and facilities that it will offer to visitors,’’ he says.
