
Pre-qualification of contractors for water production and transmission associated with Bahrain's Hidd power and water station – phase III, has begun.
Work will be awarded in 10 packages as follows:
The first package involves the construction of production facilities for 60 million gallons per day (mgd) of distillate water using MSF technology; construction of post-treatment unit for 90 mgd (30 mgd from phase I and 60 mgd from phase III) of distillate water to potable water standards; and developing transmission facilities for 60 mgd of potable water.
The other packages include: three packages for the water storage tanks and associated works; one package for the pump station, control and communications and associated civil works including extension works, modifications to eight pumping stations and the construction of new pump stations at Salmabad and Buquwah and five packages for laying pipelines of varying diameters, from Hidd to Mina Salman, from Mina Salman to various areas, from Salmabad to Tubli and in the northern regions of the kingdom.
