SAIE, the 40th in the series of international building exhibition to be held in Bologna, Italy from October 13 to 17, has expanded its portfolio to inclue two new sectors.
The show, known for its high technological content and exhaustive coverage of all segments of the building process, will include:
- Rental SAIE; and
- Tunnels and underground works.
Rental SAIE is a new specialist area sponsored by Assodimi, an association of industrial plant distributors and hire companies, and is devoted to visitors interested in plant hire.
This new theme will provide manufacturers of machinery and equipment and plant hire companies at SAIE 2004 with the opportunity to present their rental service offerings (training, IT and marketing support), contractual conditions and hire rates to visitors. The event will be staged in hall 16, the newest hall in the Bologna exhibition centre which is due to be opened later this year.
Tunnelling and Underground works, also to be staged in hall 16, is devoted to tunnelling in relation to large infrastructure works.
This theme will provide an insight into the techniques and advanced production processes for tunnelling and underground works at a seminar organised by SIG (Italian Tunnelling Society) aimed at professionals specialising in the design and construction of tunnels.
SAIE 2004 will cover an area of 220,000 sq m (20 halls and six outdoor areas) and will be divided into 11 sectors and more than 400 product categories.
Last year, more than 170,540 visitors (7,403 from abroad) visited the show to see the products and services from 1,850 exhibitors, including 450 from 29 countries around the world.
SAIE's directory of innovative materials and products will be revised and relaunched this year with fresh content and a new graphic design.
The innovative products directory will be created by a team of experts from IUAV-Artec (University of Venice, Architecture Building Department), which will study the new products and innovations showcased by exhibitors at SAIE 2004.
