A delegation from the General Exhibitions Corporation (GEC) and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) was present at the recent Hannover Fair (Hannover Messe), to actively market Industrial 2004, which is to be held in Abu Dhabi from November 21 to 24.
As part of their promotional efforts, the delegation held a press conference during the German exhibition presenting the UAE as a base for industrial investments in the Middle East, in addition to offering a brief overview of theUAE’s and Abu Dhabi’s investment potential.
The project manager of Industrial 2004 explained the benefits of participating in the exhibition, stating that it would present a window of opportunity for international companies willing to take part in rebuilding projects in Iraq, following the recent agreement between ADCCI and the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“In recent months ,German companies have been showing an increased interest in investing in the Middle East and Abu Dhabi in particular. Recently, Volkswagen has agreed to set up a facility in Abu Dhabi, following a deal entered by the emirate with the company," said a spokesman for GEC.
The emirate is also currently involved in a two-year programme to privatise its publicly-owned factories. This programme is expected to attract foreign capital. In addition, new industrial zones have been established to minimise red tape and provide security for investors, he said.
The delegation, which also visited the largest German and international industrial companies participating in the Hannover Fair to promote Industrial 2004 and the investment potential of Abu Dhabi, reported that these companies have expressed their interest in reserving a large space at the exhibition, he said.
Industrial 2004 is intended to provide a gateway for products from the UAE into the local, regional and international markets and provide a forum for the exchange of ideas in advanced technology.
