Isocrete Aqualock, a dampproof membrane, has been enhanced to offer increased tolerance to high humidity and moisture, says Isocrete Commercial Flooring.

The company says it has been working to improve the quality of the damp-proof membrane using state-of-the-art techniques.

The bond strength has been increased in the presence of high humidity, combined with improved low temperature cure characteristics to allow earlier installation of moisture-sensitive floor finishes onto concretes and screeds which have a moisture content of up to 100 per cent, explains a spokesman for the UK-based manufacturer.

Isocrete Aqualock, a liquid-applied, solvent and water-free epoxy resin system, contains a unique hardener component which provides a high tolerance of moisture typically included within new concrete and floor screeds, he says.

Since its launch onto the market almost 10 years ago, Isocrete Aqualock has held the position as one of the premier moisture-suppressant membranes in the construction industry.

Helen McGachie, managing director of Isocrete Commercial Flooring, says: In addition to the benefits for fast-track building programmes, we are now able to offer a product which also combats the problem of vapour pressure arising from osmosis, increasing the capability of this product over old concrete floors with no underlying damp-proof membrane system.

Isocrete is part of the Flowcrete Group, a market leader in the UK for industrial flooring, resin terrazzo flooring, specialist floor screeds and car-park decking systems. The group has 15 offices around the world with manufacturing plants in the UK, Asia, US and eastern Europe.
