Khalid M Abdul Rahim is chairman of Cybarco Bahrain, one of the country's leading construction companies. As the main contractor responsible for building the Citibank headquarters, he is rightly proud of his association with this new landmark in the prestigious Seef area of Bahrain.
"The Citibank headquarters is technically complex and, in my opinion, one of the most complex buildings ever constructed in Bahrain. In realising the architectural and functional aspirations of our client, the impressive state-of-the-art building also reflects Cybarco's forward-looking strategy and emphasizes our own technical expertise and capabilities," said Abul Rahim.
Since Cybarco was restructured in the mid-1990s, the company has further enhanced its project management and technical expertise and grown from strength-to-strength covering all aspects of construction work.
"Cybarco Bahrain was originally established as a joint venture with an overseas company in 1992. However, five years ago the overseas interests were bought out and I am proud to state that we are now 100 per cent Bahraini-owned," added Abdul Rahim.
Since the acquisition, Abdul Rahim has implemented an ambitious growth strategy for Cybarco that not only includes engineering and construction but also seeks strategic partnerships throughout the GCC in terms of project management and trading.
"Our strengths are many, but paramount to our overall success is the team we have developed all fully equipped with the management and technical skills necessary for the range of construction work Cybarco undertakes. This team approach is underpinned by a growth strategy that is client-focused following a total quality approach applying the best construction practices to ensure customer satisfaction," he added.
Despite the success with the Citibank project and other Bahrain projects, Abdul Rahim is look ahead and not resting on any laurels.
"Cybarco is seeking to diversify both horizontally and vertically in the business environment and looking at both construction and strategic alliances and partnerships. We maintain alliances with international companies and are looking to expand our portfolio of business interests internationally," he concluded.
Abdul Rahim is optimistic about the positive initiatives from HH the Amir Shaikh Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Bahrain government in encouraging economic growth and development and wants Cybarco to play its role in the prosperity of Bahrain.
