Seef Mall work on target

Two extensions to the Seef Mall in Bahrain will be completed this month and will open to the public in the summer. The expansion is part of a four-year development plan that is expected to eventually create the Gulf's fifth largest single commercial centre.

Seef Properties assistant general manager and centres manager Maher Abdul Aziz Al Shaer said the mall's two current extensions were a prelude to several new projects and proposals under consideration.

Meanwhile, Seef Mall's new seven-storey East Mall Car Park is set for handover on March 1. It will include shops and a cineplex and tenants will then have 90 days to complete their interior fittings, before a soft opening around May 30.

The car-park, which is being built on a 30,000 sq m tract of land between Seef Mall and the Al Aali Complex, is connected to the main mall. It includes a 650 parking slots occupying the top five floors. There will also be a 1,700 sq m exhibition centre for special in-house projects, as well as for outside promotional activities and events. The first floor will also feature a 10-screen cinema theatre.

The 17-storey Seef Tower, located north of the mall at the main entrance, will open on August 1, Al Shaer said.

The tower is being designed in an Arabesque style with clean-cut architectural lines formed around a blue-glazed facade. Each floor will offer 545 sq m of office space, which can be divided into three separate areas.

The tower will also have three high-speed lifts, exterior landscaped gardens and a 200-space shaded reserved car-park.
