
Bahrain's Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has approved a strategic budget of BD440 million ($1.17 billion) for special infrastructure projects.
The allocation outside the general budget is spread over a four-year period. The projects which come under this budget and their cost are as follows:
Meanwhile, work on the new 500-bed government general hospital is to start in Muharraq later this year.
Health Minister Dr Faisal Al Mousawi said the multi-million dinar project will be located in Busaiteen, near the public library.
The Works and Agriculture Ministry has started preparations for the project in consultation with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy and the Health Ministry. Companies will be invited soon to prequalify for the project.
Al Mousawi said the hospital would cover specialities required for a general hospital and was expected to be completed in three years.
