
APPA 2001 (Advances in Production and Processing of Aluminium) will be held in Bahrain from February 12 to 15, under the patronage of Bahrain's Minister of Oil and Industry, Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa. The specialist international conference and exhibition has been organised by College of Engineering,University of Bahrain (UoB), in collaboration with United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba). The event is co-sponsored by Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), Bahrain; Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK; Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), Japan; and Sabayec, Saudi Arabia. ''The conference is intended to enhance and promote knowledge concerning recent advances and techniques in the production and processing of aluminium,'' says a spokesman for UoB. ''It will provide a unique opportunity to disseminate recent research, technological development, and long-term market dynamics regarding aluminium industry. ''The conference is a call for an international gathering of experts, manufacturers, researchers and engineers to convene and exchange ideas about the aluminium industry.'' The conference sessions as well as the exhibition will be held in Bahrain Conference Center, Holiday Inn.
