Malaysia-based Eversendai Corp, an engineering and construction company, said it has won a contract from Saudi Arabia to carry out the steel works and cladding for Lines One and Two of the Riyadh Metro stations.

A major player in landmark projects across Southeast Asia and the Middle East, Eversendai said the Riyadh contract will open doors to securing subsequent steelworks for the $23.5-billion metro project.

The contract came together with a smaller deal to install a conversion hangar in Riyadh used to service aircraft, remarked its executive chairman AK Nathan.

The Saudi deal follows a contract to construct Al Wahda Arches and Visitors’ Centre in Doha, Qatar, which the company won amid stiff competition from South Korea, Italy and France, he added.
