MAPEI, a global leader in the production of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for buildings, has launched an exclusive range of concrete admixture products that have been specifically developed to address technical and efficiency issues in the concrete industry.

The products have been launched at a time when there is a growing concern over energy efficiency and the carbon footprint of construction materials and practices, particularly in the UAE.

Among Mapei’s new range of admixtures are the Mapeifluid N180, a water-reducing, superplasticiser/retarder for concrete; Dynamon SR1300, a superplasticiser based on modified acrylic polymer that has been developed especially for high flow concrete with extended slump retention in hot climates; Dynamon SC950, a high-performance proprietary screed additive; and Dynamon MR1000, a concrete superplasticiser based on modified acrylic polymer that is developed specifically for readymix concrete industries where the highest levels of concrete quality and performance is required.

Dynamon SC950 in particular has been generating a lot of interest in the UAE as it is considered ‘green’ since it has zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds), thanks to its very high molecular weight. It is a concentrated liquid additive specifically formulated for use with all types of sand cement based screeds. Its advantages include considerably reduced drying time, increased early and ultimate strengths, reduced cement content and reduced shrinkage cracking.

Mapei, which has built a state-of-the-art admixture manufacturing facility at Dubai Investment Park (DIP),  has achieved a 100 per cent increase in sales of its admixture line of products during the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.
