JACOBS Engineering Group has been awarded a contract by Sadara Chemical Company, a joint venture between Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and The Dow Chemical Company.
The in-kingdom engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract award is for three polyethylene trains that will form part of a world-scale, fully integrated chemicals complex now being built by Sadara in Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia.
Comprising 26 manufacturing units, the complex will be one of the world’s largest integrated chemical facilities, and the largest ever built in a single phase. The first production units are expected to come on line in the second half of 2015, with all units up and running in 2016. Jacobs’ scope of work for the project includes construction management, field engineering support, management of lump sum procure build (LSPB) construction contractors, field materials management, in-kingdom procurement services and project services support for the three polyethylene trains. Jacobs will execute this project through its office in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
Commenting on the award, Jacobs Group vice-president Mike Coyle said: “We are delighted to be a part of the Sadara project, which supports Jacobs’ long-term commitment to clients in the Middle East.”
