VERTECO, a global leader in retrofit waterless urinal systems and innovative water-saving solutions for washroom environments, has introduced rental packages for retrofit kits that fit into existing urinals and involve no installation or capital costs.
“Increasing water charges coupled with government and sustainability initiatives is forcing organisations to look at innovative ways to save water and money,” says David King, general manager, Mena (Middle East and North Africa) region. “In response to these environmental and commercial pressures, Verteco has introduced a new rental model for their market-leading retrofit waterless urinal system in the Mena region in order to aid properties in water conservation without any need for upfront installation or capital costs.”
The retrofit waterless urinal system is a simple kit that fits into existing urinal bowls. It is a totally hygienic solution that reduces water consumption to zero and eliminates odours. The Verteco system is 100 per cent effective and has been used across the globe for the past 18 years, he says.
“Lengthy payback periods for environmental product implementation makes organisations think twice about such initiatives. Although many companies have great CSR (corporate social responsibility) and HSE (health, safety and environment) policies, when ‘being environmental’ hits the bottom line, organisations often have second thoughts,” he adds.
He says with the new UAE rental model, there is no installation or upfront capital expenditure to install the system into existing urinals. It is installed free of charge after which there is a minimal monthly fee per urinal.
“We have priced our monthly full-service and maintenance packages to be cheaper than the cost of water. This becomes a ‘no-brainer’ as payback is virtually immediate,” says King.
Since opening the Mena regional office, Verteco has installed the system extensively across the UAE and has worked with many prestigious organisations including Emaar, Shangri-La Hotel, Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), Le Meridien, Danat Hotels and Resorts and The Sheraton, amongst many others.
Since Verteco’s inception in 1993 when Valerie McLean, its founder, designed the world’s first retrofit waterless urinal system, the group has become a global leader in such systems and innovative water-saving solutions for washroom environments.
“The company has a focused commitment to water conservation through innovative solutions and continuous development. Visionary leadership, strong strategic partners, and a proactive research and development programme, has seen Verteco achieve exceptional organic growth since the system’s introduction to the market,” says King.
In recognition of its commitment to innovation to water saving, Verteco was in 2010 awarded the Waterwise Marque, an award annually given to products that reduce water wastage or raise the awareness of water efficiency.
