SAUDI ARABIA signed contracts valued at SR9.39 billion ($2.5 billion) for four railway stations on a line linking Makkah and Madinah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. One of the contracts valued at SR3.18 billion ($848 million) is for a station at Makkah, and a second worth SR1.56 billion ($416 million) is for Madinah, SPA said, citing Transport Minister Jubara Al Suraisri. A third order is for a station in Jeddah valued at SR2.9 billion ($773 million), and the fourth is at King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh for SR1.75 billion ($467 million). Construction will take 30 months, according to SPA.

Saudi Binladin Group and Turkey’s Yapi Merkezi were awarded the first two orders, and Saudi Oger won the other two.
