Work under way ... the embassy site.

THE GULF Co-operation Symbols Contracting Company (GCS) is currently busy constructing an embassy for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Amman, Jordan.

The turnkey project, which includes an employee camp, is to be built over an area of 30,000 sq m. The work includes excavation, the structure, concrete, masonry finishing, electro-mechanical, security and TV systems, as well as landscaping.

GCS, which has been serving the construction industry for the last three decades, operates in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Gulf. It provides a full range of technical and project management skills from engineering, procurement, construction, communication and start-up to assisting clients in developing and upgrading facilities.

The group provides quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programmes as required by contract specifications.

“All work performed meet or exceed all contractual requirements as specified whether by GCS or procured from sub-contractors,” says a company spokesman.

He continues: “GCS’ QA/QC personnel form part of the construction team and conduct inspections, tests, review drawings and specifications, amendments and approved modifications implemented to shopped drawings, fabrications, and submittals to make sure each activity is executed within the quality assurance programme and materials are supplied in accordance with the contract requirements. A site-specific quality plan is prepared which identifies critical construction activities, associated measurable attributes and assigns responsibility for verifications of these attributes throughout the project.”

GCS is confident of its expertise, established track record and has proven technical knowledge and financial availability to complete any projects on time and within budget in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, the spokesman says, adding that through its health, safety and environmental protection programme, the company is committed to achieving its goals of zero accidents, limiting pollution and minimising waste.

Among other major projects that GCS has been involved with are the 500-bed Mina General Hospital and College of Health at Makkah, the logistics buildings at Dammam port, the GE Power Technology Centre in Dammam, and the Al Zomorod Beach Resort in Al Khobar.
