Work on a multi-million-dinar theme park complete with restaurants, a shopping centre and a motel is set to begin at 130,000 sq m Adhari Park, Bahrain, next year.

Twelve private investors from Bahrain and the other GCC states have expressed interest in the project and must submit their proposals by the end of August, said parks and beautification director Hassan Al Dossary.

The successful investor will be chosen by the end of September and construction is expected to begin next January.

$15m hospital coming up

Manama: The new BD5.6 million ($15 million) Al Hayat Specialist Hospital, offering some of the world's most advanced diagnostic facilities, is to be opened in Bahrain early next year.

Construction work on the five-storey building has been completed on Shaikh Daij Road in Gudaibiya. It will have 53 beds and 20 outpatient clinics.

The private-sector project, built on an area of 5,000 sq m, has been designed by Jordan-based Universal Hospital Services. It will include a VIP floor, royal suites and a five-star style cafeteria, believed to be the first of its kind among hospitals in Bahrain.

21 landscaping projects complete

Dubai: Dubai Municipality's Public Parks and Horticulture Department has completed 21 landscaping projects in different parts of the city. Ten projects are currently being implemented and scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

The projects to be completed soon include sections of Shaikh Zayed Road from the Dubai World Trade Centre roundabout to Interchange Number One and natural sanctuaries in the Ras Al Khor area.

Landscaping of the Civil Defence headquarters located in Al Qusais was due to be completed by the end of July. The same deadline was set for the second phase of the Nad Al Shiba landscaping project.

Corniche Road upgrading under way

Abu Dhabi: The roads section at the Abu Dhabi Municipality and Town Planning Department has launched the second phase of the Corniche Road upgrading project.

The modification, which covers an area extending from Arabian Gulf Street to Mina Zayed, will relieve the traffic and parking congestion along the existing Corniche Road in the downtown areas.

According to Saeed Trais Al Mazroui, assistant under-secretary at the municipality, the project would relocate the Corniche Road from its current location to run along the water's edge on an area of reclaimed land.
