Dubai Municipality has issued a licence to build a new Dh48 million ($13.07 million) commercial and residential building in the Riqqa Al Buteeb area on Al Maktoum Street in Dubai, UAE.

The total plot area of the 17-storey building is 33,000 sq ft while the built-up area would be 336,000 sq ft.

Zayed University expansion plans

Dubai: The Dubai campus of UAE's Zayed University is being expanded. A new building is being constructed in the north-west corner of the campus which will include networked computer classrooms, a seminar hall and four specialised laboratories for physics, biochemistry, food science and fine arts.

Study on dams awaits approval

Abu Dhabi: A technical study recommending the construction of several new dams in the UAE is awaiting final approval from the authorities, according to an official of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The study conducted by experts from the ministry covered 20 valleys across the UAE.

New hospital planned

Manama: Bahrain's Ministry of Health is studying plans to set up a hospital in Muharraq. Land has been earmarked for the hospital.

Oman to set up nursing centre

Muscat: A specialised nursing institute is to be set up in Muscat, Oman at a cost of RO600,000 ($1.5 million). The institute will have six classrooms, a modern laboratory, a computer room, library and other facilities.

$12m for industrial area roads

Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Industry and chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved a new roads project worth Dh47 million ($12.8 million) for Ras Al Khor industrial area.

Dubai police to get new HQ

Dubai: Construction of a new headquarters for Dubai Police in the present police compound in Deira has been given the go-ahead. It will be built on a 50,000 sq m plot of land formerly used as a football ground.

Two pedestrian bridges planned

Dubai: Dubai Municipality is planning to construct two pedestrian bridges at a total cost of Dh5 million ($1.36 million) to link Global Village with Creekside Park in Dubai. The bridges will be 40 m in length and 4 m wide. Tenders for the projects are due to floated in early September.
