$127m for infrastructure work

A sum of KD38 million ($127.5 million) has been allocated for the completion of infrastructure in Kuwait's South Surra area, according to Badr Al Dai, chief engineer of the road engineering division at the Ministry of Public Works (MPW).

He said the MPW has completed work on the first two phase of the project while work on Phase Three, costing an estimated KD5.5 million, is expected to be completed in September 2001.

Cineplex opens in Bahrain

Manama: The Bahrain Cinema Company (BCC) has opened its new BD400,000 ($1.06 million) cineplex in Muharraq. Al Jazeera Cineplex has two screens with a seating capacity of 150 each.

A BD2 million project that will house 10 cinema halls in the Seef area will be completed by the year-end.

Kuwait resort project completed

Kuwait City: The National Investment Company (NIC) has completed the Kheiran Resort project in Keiran, according to Rasheed Al Nafaisee, NIC chairman. Besides accommodation units, the resort boasts of spacious parking lots, health spas, shopping malls, restaurants and playgrounds for children.

Hospital building opened

Kuwait City: The Minister of Health has officially opened the renovated out-patients clinic building at Amiri Hospital in Kuwait. The work was completed within one year at an estimated cost of KD150,000 ($503,400).

Fujairah port dredging completed

Fujairah: The dredging project at the Fujairah Port, UAE, has been completed by the Belgian dredging company Jan De Nul.

Dredging to 15 m at the entrance and within the port basin, the operation has involved the removal of 3.9 million cu m of sand, sandstone and conglomerate. The work formed the first stage of the expansion programme of the port.

Parking lot for pickups ready

Dubai: The Municipality has recently completed the construction of a large parking lot for light pickups at Al Khaleej Road, Dubai, UAE, and the expansion of the Gold Suq bus station, at a total cost of Dh6.82 million ($1.86 million).

The new parking lot can accommodate nearly 1,000 pickups. The Gold Suq bus station expansion included widening the existing station to include the existing car parking facility at Al Khor Road, along with facilities for the various service authorities.
