The new finish ... distinguished.

DORNBRACHT — a leading manufacturer of high-quality fittings and accessories for bathrooms and kitchens — has recently introduced a revised line of Tara, its often — copied award-winning design classic, which was initially launched in 1992.

Designated as ‘Tara refined’, and designed by Sieger Design, the new line has been extended to include the black and white editions, besides its regular platinum, matt platinum and chrome series.
Speaking on the introduction, a spokesperson from the company says: “Tara has been a unique success story, to which Dornbracht is now adding a new chapter, by refinement of both the design and the technology of the classic Tara with new finishes and architectures developed especially for it.”
Managing director Andreas Dornbracht is quick to point out, however, that Tara essential retains its character and the new version is a refinement.
“It was very important to us not to change the successful Tara, but to refine it in detail,” explains Dornbracht. “And thus the new Tara is a consistent continuation, a contemporary interpretation. The refinement is a play of many smaller improvements in details from the design and technology through to the architecture of Tara baths.”
When it comes to the design, reduction of the diameter of handles and rosettes and extension of the fitting body — even if only by a few millimetres — ensure that the new Tara appears clearly slimmer, more upright and fine. The geometry of the cross handles seems even more precise. The overall contours of all fittings have been sharpened to underscore Tara’s perfect geometrical, symmetrical and clear style.
Tara is available for the first time with matt white and matt black finishes in the special editions — Tara Black Edition and Tara White Edition. “The clear colours black and white fit perfectly with Tara’s architectural and timelessly modern character. The new finishes are distinguished by an especially velvety effect, which conveys a high-quality, fine grip feeling,” adds the spokesman.
Three product innovations for washstands and showers are expressions of Tara’s ongoing evolution, he continues. “The free-standing washstand single-hole mixer looks like a modern sculpture in the space. The same applies to the new shower system, which extends way up almost to the ceiling. The washstand wall mixer, with its asymmetrical positioning of the cross handles, is deliberately provocative by offsetting the classic geometrical character of the Tara cross handles,” he says.
Three baths have been designed by Mike Meiré, as suggestions for setting the new Tara. “They demonstrate how versatile Tara can appear especially with its new finishes. Together with the space, Tara creates harmony. In colour contrast to the architecture, the fittings attract attention. This provides for a wide range of exciting applications to meet the demands of various target audiences. With white on white, for example, the bath and fittings lightly flow into one another. Materials such as glass, porcelain, ceramic, stone and plaster underscore this effect. Those who want to set a provocative tone can select a fitting in contrast to the architecture consisting of materials like stone, ceramic, glass, felt, slate and porcelain,” he says.
Tara’s transformation is also seen in numerous technical refinements: A plastic aerator has been used to improve the stream while simultaneously reducing the rate of flow and minimising noise. At the same time, the new aerator provides long-term protection against calcification with its anti-calcification system — an advantage for end-users. The enhancement of washstand wall mixers and flush-mounted valves ensures the same projection from the wall for greatly simplified installation. The domes in the final installation set no longer have to be aligned and adapted, but are fastened in the pre-assembly set, thus saving plumbers’ time, he adds.
A large portion of the Tara line can be delivered for use in washstands, tubs, showers and bidets. The series is rounded off by the accessory line, which has also been refined.
