Mammut Contracting, the recently-formed construction arm of Mammut Group, has started work on the Dh508.70 million ($138.5 million) Dubai Waterfront project, won earlier from Nakheel.
“One of the few companies to start erection works at the Waterfront site, Mammut has already commenced the erection of precast elements for the townhouses, supplied by Mammut Technocrete,” says a spokesman for the company.
Under the contract, Mammut Contracting will be involved with the construction of 146 villas and 16 four-storey buildings.
“To work with a prestigious client on a huge project like this gives us an edge over our competition,” says Siamak Motemavelian, marketing and brand manager for the group. “It is the right time for us to showcase our potential and capabilities. The legacy of success that we have from the Mammut Group has definitely helped us in achieving this project.”
“Our strategic move to create a new contracting division has paid off, with the winning of the Waterfront contract,” he adds. “The decision to start a construction division was made early this year by Mammut Group and this has enabled us to keep pace with the growing demands of the UAE’s construction sector.”
Established with the aim of providing industrial contracting services using products manufactured by its sister companies, Mammut Contracting will offer design and build projects in the UAE for the Mammut group.
Commenting on the how Mammut Contracting was formed, he says: “Inspired by a forward-looking vision, we initiated several changes within the organisation that will help make us the leaders in our field; these include restructuring our organisational structure, redefining our policies and enhancing our technology.”
The new company has already succeeded in building trusted relationships with Nakheel, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and other leading companies in the UAE, says Motemavelian.
Mammut Contracting’s focus areas will include the construction of villas, malls, schools, hospitals and structures.
“Every project that we undertake will reflect on the professional talent of our vast pool of employees and our ability to seek alternative methods of construction and innovative solutions to engineering problems,” says Motemavelian.
“In addition, the fact that the company will be backed by high-quality materials and equipment to enable it to excel in general building projects, turnkey projects and other works,” he explains.
“In addition, as a group, we have also been striving to create the right work environment for our 2,000 employees and 200 supervisors. We recognise that safety and good health are the key elements in creating the right work environment for our employees, which in turn affects the productivity, quality, and dependability of our output. Our efforts have been to provide the requisite technical facilities as well as financial incentives in keeping our workers motivated.
“In this direction, the company has set up a division that looks after the welfare of its employees. This division applies vocational and environmental safety criteria while carrying out training programmes to impart the necessary skills to its employees in the field of environment, health, and vocational health,” Motemavelian concludes.
