

Go-ahead for $6.2m institute
A Dh23 million ($6.26 million) religious institute is currently being constructed by the Dubai Municipality (DM) in the Academic City in the emirate’s Al Ruwayya city.
“DM’s general projects department has already completed the final design for the project, which is expected to be completed by August 2009,” said Hussain Nasser Lootah, acting director general of DM.
Construction works of the project will be carried out in phases with the first phase involving works of the academic block, service buildings, parking lot and the compound wall.
The two-storey academic block will include 16 class rooms for the primary division to accommodate 400 students, 12 classrooms for the secondary division to accommodate 300 students, in addition to laboratories, and teachers’ rooms.
Sharjah City Centre revamp under way
Sharjah City Centre is undergoing a major expansion, renovation and redevelopment programme. The new extension will take the mall’s total retail area to over 37,553 sq m with more than 114 shops.
Set for completion this December, the mall will be home to an additional 22 new stores including internationally-renowned anchor stores New Look, H&M and Borders occupying a total of over 3,400 sq m.
Other prominent retailers will include Vincci, Women’s Secret, Missha, Areej, Shades and, for the first time in the Northern Emirates, Coffee Republic and Parfois.
Work begins on $217.8m Lake Central
Fakhruddin Properties has announced that construction operations at its $217.81 million Lake Central project are under way and the piling phase has already been completed.
A T-shaped 22-storey commercial tower located in Business Bay, Lake Central is scheduled for completion by late 2009.
“Lake Centre is a unique commercial tower adding to our signature projects, which have garnered much attention,” said Ali Asgar Fakhruddin, director of Fakhruddin Properties.
