Six Flags Dubailand, the 5 million sq ft, multi-billion-dirham theme park, has announced the development of its conceptual masterplan.
The first phase of the project is scheduled to be ready in 2011 and the theme park is expected to receive 3 million visitors per year.
With an estimated 30 family rides, including the brand’s signature as well as newly developed rides, the masterplan for Six Flags Dubailand incorporates design elements as well as other components such as retail and food outlets.
Tatweer will break ground for the project in 2009.
Featuring its signature line-up of thrill and themed adventure rides and attractions, Six Flags Dubailand will boast world renowned entertainment franchises such as the children’s musical group Wiggles and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk.
Meanwhile, Tatweer has announced the launch of Freej Dubailand, a four million sq ft family entertainment destination based on the much-loved characters from Freej, the Middle East’s first and most popular 3-D animation series.
The fantasy world of Freej Dubailand will be located in the heart of Dubailand and offer innovative rides, breathtaking attractions and fun-filled experiences. It will serve as a getaway destination for adventure lovers and leisure seekers, represented by its four main ambassadors, Um Saeed, Um Saloom, Um Allawi and Um Khammas.
Freej Dubailand will boast hotels totalling 2,600 keys, and feature retail, food and beverage outlets, as well as a spectrum of entertainment attractions. Comprising 1.2 million sq ft of open space and welcome over 2 million visitors a day.
In a separate development, local trading company Sameer Al Mahmood has launched Zenith Tower – its first freehold property in Dubai – at Dubailand.
The 45-storey project features two independent buildings within one structure. The first 22 storeys will feature office space and the second 22 storeys will be residential, says a spokesman for the developer.
Occupants of Zenith Tower will have access to a monorail station situated immediately outside the building entrances.
