Bab Al Bahar ... mixed-use development.

Rakeen, a global property developer and Ras Al Khaimah’s top master-planner, unveiled a new three-tiered shopping mall and a 20-floor office tower at last month’s Arabian Travel Market 2008 (ATM).

The key projects will form part of Bab Al Bahr, Ras Al Khaimah’s Dh1.2 billion ($326.7 million) mixed-use resort development.
The 29,000-sq-m shopping complex will include a supermarket, speciality shops, coffee shops, a grand store, foodcourt, children’s amusement centre, and six cinemas. The 38,500-sq-m office tower will offer underground parking for 450 cars and views of the Arabian Gulf waters, in addition to a full range of business and office amenities and easy access to facilities within the development, such as residential apartments and a 300-room resort hotel.
In addition to the shopping mall and office tower, Rakeen also showcased an impressive portfolio of projects being developed within Bab Al Bahr, including a recently-launched residential development that offers 710 freehold apartments. The residential area includes a pool bar, gym, themed swimming pools, children’s play areas, club facilities, and underground parking for up to 800 cars.
Bab Al Bahr is the first project on Al Marjan Island – Rakeen’s man-made coral shaped atoll that extends 4 km into the Arabian Gulf. The island-inspired, fully-integrated community offers occupants and visitors 360-degree sea views and extensive landscaping that includes exotic gardens and a 500-m long stretch of beach. The project is scheduled for completion by early 2010.
