

Hydra unveils two new projects
Hydra Properties has launched of two new projects – Hydra Avenue Towers and Hydra 55 Towers – that will redefine the landscape of the City of Lights at the Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi.
The Hydra Avenue Towers project comprises six towers, rising up to 29 storeys, which are classified into a group of three each. Hydra Avenue Towers are designed to triumph over a podium that stretches over five floors.
Work has already gathered momentum and the Hydra Avenue Towers project is expected to be completed by January, 2011, says a spokesman for the developer.
The 55-storey Hydra 55 will seek to redefine the skyscape of the Al Reem Island, he concludes.
AMB crosses 1 million without LTI
Al Masaood Bergum (AMB) has marked one million man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI) on its labour accommodation project at Dubai Waterfront. This health and safety milestone was celebrated by an awards presentation by the senior management team to the project managers and workers involved in the project, the company said.
The project, which commenced last October, has seen in excess of 1,100 people on site and is planned for completion this month. During the construction period, 1,150 safety inspections have taken place, 2,250 staff inductions have been carried out and there were 4,600 toolbox talks for employees of the project.
Aldar-RMAD installs Lintec plants
Aldar-Readymix Abu Dhabi (Aldar-RMAD) has recently commissioned two top-of-the-range Lintec CC 3000 D concrete batching plant for its Al Raha beach development project in Abu Dhabi.
The firm has joined two similarly-rated Lintec plants for the adjacent Yas Island development.
All four plants are able to meet Aldar-RMAD’s initial requirement for up to 4,200 cu m per day of high specification concrete, rising to 8,000 cu m per day. By completion, it is anticipated that the project will use in excess of 15 million cu m of concrete.
Al Raha beach development is being built close to the Abu Dhabi-Dubai Highway along a 5 km long water frontage, much on reclaimed land. It will occupy an area of 6.8 million sq m and provide a total built-up area of 12 million sq m for residential, commercial and recreational uses.
The development will provide a new city district serving as the gateway to Abu Dhabi City and accommodate some 120,000 residents. Forming part of the overall beach development, Yas Island will incorporate a Ferrari theme park and the F1 race circuit.
Al Duaa launches The Residence
Al Duaa Holdings, the a Dh4 billion ($1.1 billion) UAE-based property development, advisory and real estate investment company and A&A Investments, a regional leader in investment services, has launched The Residence, a Dh240 million ($65 million) freehold residential project located in Jumeirah Village, Dubai.
The 10-storey project will offer 277,929 sq ft of premium quality residential and retail space with ample parking and access to all the major landmarks in Dubai like the Dubai Marina, Dubai Internet City (DIC) and Dubai Sports City.
The project, which was designed by Dimension Engineering Consultants, consists of 146 units with 23 studios, 95 one-bedroom apartments, 21 two-bedroom apartments and seven lofts.
DWTC, Accor sign new deal
Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has signed a management agreement with Accor Hospitality, for a new hotel development in Dubai Trade Centre District (DTCD) – the integrated commercial destination currently under Phase One of its construction.
Under the terms of the agreement, Accor will manage a new Ibis Hotel within DTCD, adding an additional 588 rooms for business and leisure travellers to Dubai by 2011.
On completion, Phase One of DTCD will offer over 240,000 sq m of Grade A office space, along with a premium range of meeting, retail and hospitality facilities, providing a vibrant commercial centre in the heart of Dubai. In addition, state-of-the-art conference and convention facilities to be developed subsequently will attract some of the world’s most prestigious events.
DM nod for drainage work
The Dubai Municipality (DM) has given the nod for two drainage projects worth Dh555.85 million ($151.33 million), which will involve the setting up of sewage network lines in Al Barsha 1 and Al Khawaneej areas of Dubai.
The projects, which are expected to be completed by May 2010, form part of the civic body’s plans to link new residential areas with the city’s main drainage network.
The first project, at an overall cost of Dh258.5 million, will serve the south of Al Barsha 1 area and will involve major sewage and storm-water lines and house connections. The second project, at an overall cost of Dh297.28, will serve Al Khawaneej area and will involve major sewage and storm-water lines and house connections.
In another development, Dubai Municipality has already begun construction of a Dh55 million drainage network for Al Nahda and Al Mamzar area. The project, which covers a total area of 328 hectares, will involve connections to 250 houses and buildings.
