
Dammam-based Al Osais International – a well-diversifed company with business interests in construction, industrial petroleum services, manufacturing, equipment rental and trading and investments – has recently launched the expansion of its steel factory in response to the growing demand for steel in Saudi Arabia.
Known as Al Arabi Factory for Steel Works (ASF), the factory produces structural steel frames, girders, structural beams and miscellaneous steel structures. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and operates over a 20,000 sq m area, of which 9,600 sq m is being utilised for fabrication.
“We have an output of 40 tonnes per month with our existing manpower and are looking at gradually increasing it in the next six months to achieve an output of 1,000 tonnes a month,” says Saeed Abdullah Almusbeh, managing director of ASF.
ASF started operations in 2005 and has since witnessed grown rapidly. Quality is a priority at the company, where an established quality control system is being implemented to assure its clients that not a single product will leave its plant without passing such stringent controls. Managed by competent and experienced people in the field of structural steel, it is equipped with the latest design and detailing software to ensure the accuracy of its products.

Al Osais plays a key role in construction activities across Saudi Arabia by undertaking various prestigious projects for Saudi Aramco and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). It has been recently awarded several Saudi Aramco contracts, such as the common facilities for Khurais central processing facility, the Phase 1 system upgrade of Yanbu Refinery electrical distribution system, replacement of electrical equipment at Tanajib plants in addition to other ongoing projects such as Khurais residential and recreational complex and Khursahiyah site preparation project. The company is also currently constructing a 500-bed hospital project for Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.
“We have also been awarded a new SEC project, which comprises site enabling earthworks at Qurayyah CCGT (combined cycle gas turbine) power plant. This is in addition to other two other projects awarded to the Al Osais power division, which includes the construction of 132/13.8 kV substation and 132 kV GIS extension in Riyadh,” says Abdul Rahman Moraisel, vice president of Al Osais International.
Al Osais has recently formed a new logistics company under its umbrella known as Rehal Al Sharq Logistics (RS-Lane), which is fully involved in both local and regional logistics activities.
