The Hilti PR 20 rotating laser, designed for levelling and aligning in horizontal or inclined planes, takes the tough conditions of outdoor work on construction sites, in its stride.
This highly accurate measuring system is presently being used on a number of projects in the UAE, including the prestigious Dubai International Airport expansion project, the Burj Dubai Residence project and the Old Town development at Burj Dubai.
This precise tool provides dependable results in virtually every situation, says the Liechtenstein-based construction solutions provider Hilti.
“The sturdy new Hilti PR 20 rotating laser simply gets the job done more quickly and more efficiently – at the touch of a button,” says Mutaz Al Maani, market segment manager at the Hilti Regional Office for the Middle East and South Asia region, based in Dubai.
He continues: “This latest development from the Hilti laser laboratory levels itself automatically within seconds. Once set up and levelled, it can be relied on to provide accurate references over an area of 400 m in diameter. Its built-in shock warning system alerts the user immediately in the event of heavy vibration or movement, thus actively preventing errors due to continuation of work when out of level.”
“The PR 20 is the perfect replacement for the optical levelling tools which usually require two people to operate. Now almost every optical level can be replaced by a rotating laser, which is easily operated by one person, thus saving time and money,” he adds.
Easy operation
Featuring an extra-long detection window, the PRA 20 laser detector locates the rotating laser beam quickly and easily over the PR 20’s entire working radius, under all lighting conditions. With this pocket-sized detector attached to a suitable staff, a wide range of measuring, levelling and checking work in construction, civil engineering and landscaping can be completed more quickly and more productively, he says.
“Easily operated by a single person, the Hilti PR 20 is ideal for jobs such as measuring and checking excavations of all kinds, pouring concrete for foundations and floors, aligning concrete formwork and laying drainage pipes or waste water pipes on the required incline,” says Al Maani. “All of these everyday measuring and levelling tasks can be carried out quickly by a single person without the need for rechecking.
“With the PRA 20 laser detector, a single person can quickly determine the depth of the excavation, with spot-on accuracy, at any desired point within the 400 m diameter and also the exact height when pouring and compacting the concrete deck. Aligning and readjusting the formwork for a concrete deck is a one-man job with the PR 20. Setting out the slope of a ramp is quicker and more accurate than ever before. Pipes can be laid quickly on the correct incline without any difficulty. The PR 20 is a true and reliable time saver on the jobsite,” confirms Al Maani.
Dependable
The Hilti PR 20 has been designed for everyday use, so its controls have been kept simple and are thus largely self-explanatory. Once switched on, this rotating laser provides a dependable reference for more than 80 hours before the batteries require recharging. It operates reliably under the harshest conditions of daily jobsite use at temperatures from -20 to +50 deg C, is dust and waterproof (protection against water jets) and largely insensitive to vibration, he adds.
Calibration service
In order to ensure reliability in accordance with standards and statutory requirements, the Hilti Calibration Service provides confirmation that the tool is in conformance, on the day it is tested, with the specifications given in its operating instructions.
No matter where or in what application the Hilti PR 20 is put to use, this robustly-built rotating laser can be relied on to provide accurate results and improve productivity, Al Maani concludes.
