Wolffkran – a leading Switzerland-headquartered manufacturer and the biggest rental company of high-quality tower cranes in Europe – has recently launched the Wolff 4517 ‘city’, a new top-slewing flat top tower crane which thanks to its compact build is highly suited for use within constricted inner-city areas.
“Even though the 4517 is the smallest crane of the current product range, it features all new Wolff components. The crane has a maximum jib length of 50 m and load capacity of 6 tonnes and is thus amply suited for construction sites within cities. The new 4517 ‘city’ is the first crane of the new ‘city’ production run,” says a spokesman for Wolffkran.
Due to its small dimensions, the Wolff 4517 ‘city’ with a under hook height of 35.5 m and the full jib length of 45 m needs only two lorries for transportation. The erection of this ‘city’ crane is also simple.
“The new Wolff 4517 'city' also combines all successful elements, such as the pin connection of tower and jib and the approved TFS tower system with a new width of 1.2 m. Thus by using available components of the Wolff tower system, customers can save additional expenses. Due to the small number of jib parts and the use of non-variable parts for jib extension, it offers advantages when managing a tower crane fleet,” he adds.
The danger of confusing counterweights is minimised by using non-variable parts and the risk of injury is minimised by guiding the lifting hoist inside the jib.
The Wolf 4517 ‘city’, which is manufactured in the factory in Heilbronn, Switzerland, is user-friendly with all actuation work featured as a matter of course with the FU technique. A new 18.5 kW hoist motor guarantees a good handling with the 4517 ‘city’ being serially equipped with slip-ring system. In addition, the ‘city’ – like the “big ones” – features a multilingual graphic terminal with user information and diagnostics signalling as well as simple menu-guided settings for the load-limiting device and limit switches,” the spokesman concludes.
