Steel fabricator Arabian Metal Industries Limited (AMIL) has recently launched production of recovery units and mobile workshops, making it the only manufacturing in the region with the capability to design and produce such complicated units, says Fouad Abu Ein, sales manager.
Jeddah-based firm – which next year marks three decades of operation in the kingdom – designs, manufactures, supplies and installs various types of steel superstructures and attachments related to the truck industry. These are most used for transport and by the construction industry, he says.
AMIL’s association with Attieh Steel dates back 15 years.
“While, we started business relations with Attieh Steel on a small scale, this company is now our main supplier of steel. In return, we cater to their domestic demand for trailers and steel carrying tippers,” says Abu Ein.
“Attieh Steel is an excellent business partner – they have always ensured time delivery of products which have been of high quality and reliability. Our relationship has been mutually beneficial while also enabling us to gain the trust of our customers through providing them high-quality and reliable products on time. AMIL’s association with the firm continues to grow on the strength of the good reputation we have in the market and the services we provide to our customers.”
Established in 1976, AMIL achieves an annual turnover of SR85 million ($22.6 million). With a staff strength of 300, it has its head office and factory in Jeddah and a sales office in Riyadh. It also has authorised distributors in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Sudan and the UAE.
“While our main line is the truck bodies, from time to time however, we do introduce new products in response to the demands of the market,” he says.
Commenting on business levels, Abu Ein says: “Business this year is very good compared to last year and we expect prospects to be better next year. Hence, we are preparing ourselves to grab a lion’s share of the market,”
AMIL is currently handling a number of jobs within the kingdom as well as export orders to the other GCC countries and Sudan. These involve the fabrication of 200 trailers with 100 dollies to Sudan, 150 tippers for different projects in Saudi Arabia as well as 50 high-capacity fuel tanks to Kuwait.
Since its inception, the company has handled a number of challenging and unusual projects. Citing some examples, Abu Ein says: “Our most challenging fabrication job so far was for the government and entailed the manufacture and supply of 200 low-beds, which we consider the most state of the art among our products. This was a highly challenging project in all respects, more so because it involved a lot of special steel and manpower. However, we managed to produce and deliver the order on time.
“Among the more unusual or interesting projects/contracts the company has handled recently was an order for 100 fire-fighting trucks for the Civil Defence in Saudi Arabia. We are proud to have manufactured such sophisticated and important products that are of high quality and offer excellent performance.”
