Atlas Copco compressors - the silent workforce - has been keeping operations continuous in a vast array of production facilities ranging from ceramic tiles to cement products, power stations to refineries; food factories to plastic manufacturing etc.
In the UAE, the strong partnership of Inma (Gulf Development and Construction) and Atlas Copco has been the focal point of supply, support and service to these various sectors over several years.
“Inma commenced operations in the UAE in 1972. Keeping an even pace with the country’s development, the company today has a product spread from recognised International brands, and mainly serves the industrial and construction sectors. Atlas Copco, the Swedish multinational company which Inma represents in the UAE, commenced operations more than 130 years ago,” says a spokesman for the company.
Inma and Atlas Copco have had an active presence in the UAE’s industry through the supply of quality air compressors and accessories. The typical sectors in the UAE and worldwide using these Atlas Copco products for their operations are water, food and beverages; oil and gas; plastics; paper printing; packaging; metal; woodworking; civil construction; cement; quarries; building materials; marine/shipbuilding; amusement; pharmaceuticals and hospitals and several more.
Atlas Copco’s wide product range includes piston compressors, rotary-screw compressors (both oil-free and oil-lubricated units), airline accessories, portable diesel engine-driven compressors, diesel generators & lighting towers; quarry drill rigs and drilling tools, construction and demolition tools, and industrial pneumatic hand tools.
“Piston compressors supplied to some of the manufacturing units in the ‘80s in the UAE are still in good operation. Spare parts are still available upon request, from the manufacturer for most models,” says the spokesman. These units are popularly used in hospitals, fuel-filling stations, small and medium-scale manufacturing industries, marine and vehicle workshops - where short and intermittent supply of compressed air is required.
Atlas Copco’s rotary screw compressors provide the solution where the applications demand tough continuous operation. Available in a capacity range from 1.5 KW to 1,250 KW, these well-designed heavy-duty compressors are widely used for all kinds of pneumatic applications in the industry, including critical utilities. The Z range oil-free rotary screw compressors have been the industry’s preferred choice when it comes to special applications requiring 100 per cent oil-free air
“For very large airflow requirements, centrifugal compressors offer the optimal solution, and Atlas Copco’s impressive range of centrifugals cover a wide span of capacities. When it comes to low pressure and medium to large flow applications, Atlas Copco has the right product for this too!” the spokesman points out.
Portable diesel engine-driven compressors complemented by diesel generators are also always in popular demand from the construction sector. The wide range of portable compressors from 67 to 1570 CFM and pressure variants from 7 to 25 bar and diesel generators from 15 KVA to 2,000 KVA cover the compressed air and electrical power needs of the construction industry.
“The construction industry in the UAE witnessed an unprecedented growth in the recent past and Inma-Atlas Copco have always strived to be in the forefront, by meeting critical delivery requirements from the sector,” he says.
Some key clients include RAK Ceramics, the UAE’s leading supplier of ceramic products, who use several units of Atlas Copco stationary GA rotary screw compressors with electric motor drive in production units in the UAE and other countries.
“Inma is proud to be associated with this single largest user of the GA stationary compressors and values its association over the several years of operation,” he comments.
Supply of equipment to many of the landmark constructions in the UAE, include Emirates Towers, Burj Al Arab, Wild Wadi, National Bank of Dubai main office building (in Dubai), Baynunah Towers and Conference Palace hotel (in Abu Dhabi), power stations (all over the UAE) and many more.
More recently, 10 portable air compressors and several pneumatic tools were supplied to the prestigious Burj Dubai Tower project. “Inma is closely associated with the contractors to jointly arrive at easy solutions for their compressed air needs. Technical expertise of well-trained sales and service staff facilitate in finding optimum solutions to the users’ compressed air requirements,” the spokesman continues.
“Also recently, we delivered 19 high-specification QAS range diesel generators to Emirates Technical Services, a Sharjah-based rental company. All the generators were put into operation immediately upon supply and are rendering relentless service to the respective clients. Application of these units vary from standby for a printing press to daily duty for neon sign boards to continuous operation at construction sites,” he comments.
In Abu Dhabi, the company has maintained close touch with the industrial sector from its Mussafah-based branch office and has an active presence in the industrial units located in the area. In the Oil and gas sector also, Inma has several Atlas Copco compressors in operation and fully backs up this vital sector through its skilIed personnel. In Al Ain, several Atlas Copco units are in operation at important locations, including mineral water plants and cement plants.
During its more than three decades of existence, Inma has always recognised the importance of providing efficient after-sales service and to support this, has built a modern service facility at its Al Ramoul complex, sprawling over an area of over 40,000 sq ft and also has another service centre in Abu Dhabi. Service staff manning the centre are fully trained and equipped with the latest tools to meet the exacting service needs of clients – offering skilled service support & contracts through maintenance agreements.
Inma welcomes clients to its facilities at Al Ramoul in Dubai, Musaffah in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for a closer interaction and technical discussions with experienced personnel from the field.
Besides Atlas Copco, Inma is also associated with and supports in the UAE, leading brands such as Flygt (submersible pumps); Alimak (construction material and passenger hoists); Liebherr (tower cranes); Dynapac (road and concrete compaction equipment); Haulotte (lift platforms); Jungheinrich (electric forklifts and warehouse systems); Hatz (diesel engines); and Stetter (truck mixers); Thwaites (site dumpers); Sandvik (crushing and screening plants).
Along with its’ sister companies – Iman, Oman and Inma Qatar – the company has a well-spread operation in the region today. Since its first day of operations in 1972, Inma has come a long way and looks forward to continue on the several strengths developed over the years.
