Bahrain’s first private power plant is to be constructed at a cost of $500 million (BD189 million), and will be owned and operated by a Belgian-Gulf joint venture company.
The Tender Board has selected Suez-Tractebel/GIC for implementing Bahrain’s first 1,000 MW Al Ezzel Independent Power Plant (IPP).
The Belgian-Gulf joint venture firm was selected out of five bidders who were earlier shortlisted by a special committee, said Minister of State and Tender Board chairman Dr Abdul Hussain Mirza.
