The foundation stone for a $85 million (BD32m) pallet manufacturing plant was laid in Bahrain early last month.

The plant owned by PVaxx Industries – a wholly owned subsidiary of Bermuda-based PVaxx Limited, commercial materials sales corporation – will come up on a planned 86,700 sq m facility in Hidd’s industrial area.
The manufacturing facility has been designed and is being built by Saudi Consulting Services (Saudconsult), one of the oldest engineering companies in Saudi Arabia.
The pallet and shipping-container manufacturing plant –  claimed to be the world’s largest – is expected to produce 22 million pallets and 200 shipping containers in its first year of operation.
In the subsequent year, production is expected to be 67 million pallets and 400 containers, rising to 91 million pallets and 2,000 shipping containers by the fifth year.
The pallets and containers are easily degradable and can also be recycled. They will be manufactured using a revolutionary raw material made from HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which is available at very low costs in the Gulf, sand – another raw material readily available in the region and unifier.
