Experience gained over quarter of a century has helped Yerevan Steel to successfully complete the fast-track contract for the extension of the Altajir Glass Factory.
The Dubai-based company, which was established in 1976, specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of steel structures, cladding and metal decking works, complying with British and American standards. The firm has earned a reputation on projects such as power plants, hangars, storage sheds, cargo handling facilities and shopping malls.
Yerevan Steel was the main contractor for the steel structure and cladding works on the Altajir Glass Factory extension.
Describing the project, the company director M G Thadani says: 'Two main elements of the project were the tight schedule and the modifications required to be made to the plant without disrupting ongoing production.
Another major challenge was coping with the limited access available to the site. Handling the materials and workers in such a restricted area and tight construction deadlines throughout the project, required very skilled and efficient site management.
'Our project manager, Armond Torrosian, and his team - supported by all the departments in our office and factory - managed this project very well and completed it in 85 days.'
Thadani continues: 'We continually increased our resources at site, as and when required, in order to finish the project on time. Thanks to the good co-operation between the client, the consultant and the project management team, the target was successfully accomplished. For Yerevan, it was another feather in our cap.'
'We pride ourselves in executing contracts within the agreed delivery schedule and to the standard specifications agreed upon,' says H Tahmasian, president and head of quality control department.
He continues: 'Quality has always been a major focus at Yerevan Steel. The production schedules at our factory are very carefully monitored. The company, having been awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification in January 2002, operates within strict quality assurance and management procedures. This quality assured system ensures that every single fabrication leaving the factory is compliant with BS and ASI standards.'
Yerevan is currently working on Dubai International Airport for the upgrade of cargo handling facilities in the Emirates Sky Cargo Centre.
Thadani concludes: 'We are extremely proud to have been selected for the Altajir project, which will serve as an outstanding example of our capabilities in all our future projects.'
