Cylingas Company was responsible for the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) installations at the Madinat Jumeirah.
The company, a subsidiary of the Emirate National Oil Company (ENOC) Group of Companies, was established in 1974 as a joint venture between the late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the then Ruler of Dubai, and R M Goculdas Group from India. The company was transferred under the ENOC umbrella in 1993.
'Cylingas takes pride in being a pioneer in articulated LPG systems and being associated with prestigious projects like the Madinat Jumeirah resort,' says Prem Upadhyay, operations manager. ''Its scope of works on Phase 1 of the project involved supply of LPG storage tanks, vaporisers, a pipe-in-pipe distribution system, and regulating stations along with a state-of-the-art leak detection system, which have recently been commissioned. The leak detection system is designed, developed and manufactured by Suregas South Africa, a partner in the project.''
Cylingas started manufacturing LPG cylinders in 1976 and subsequently expanded into the design, fabrication and supply of refrigerant gas cylinders, shells for dissolved acetylene, chlorine gas, fire extinguishers, vertical and horizontal tanks for petroleum and chemical products and pressure vessels as per ASME 'U' standards and LPG bulk articulated systems for residential and commercial complexes for clients such as hotels and resorts.
It recorded consistent growth and now services a range of customers throughout Middle East, Africa and Indian Ocean islands.
The firm specialises in the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of complete LPG storage and distribution facilities for industrial, commercial and high-rise residential buildings and villas.
Some of the prestigious projects undertaken by Cylingas include the Gold and Diamond Park, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Royal Mirage Beach Resort and Dusit Dubai Hotel, Zabeel Palace kitchen, Al Murooj Complex, all in Dubai and RAK Ceramics in Ras Al Khaimah.
Cylingas Company was among the first few firms authorised by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to put the U Stamp of approval on its pressure vessels fabricated for process plants in the region, according to Goculdas, managing director of Cylingas.
Cylingas has fabricated large single pressure vessels - 44.5 m long and with a diameter of 3.96 m - for clients in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman. These vessels are suitable for liquids and gases up to a pressure of 25 bars. Some of its major clients are Emirates Gas, Emirates Petroleum Products Company (Eppco), Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) Dubai, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Al Nahda Gas, Abu Dhabi and National Gas Company of Oman.
'We, at Cylingas, take pride in our small contribution to the development of Dubai and the region and will continue to provide specialised and quality services to exceed the expectations of the customers,' he adds.
