Waterproofing

Fosroc extends Proofex line

Fosroc has launched a new waterproofing membrane on the market called Proofex Engage, that is said to provide reliable waterproofing integrity even when used in ground conditions subject to settlement.

"The new membrane was launched to address a number of critical issues recently raised by the construction industry", a Fosroc spokesman says. "This new product has been designed for waterproofing basement grades 2, 3 and 4 as defined in BS 8102:1990, for sub-structures, foundations and buried roofs and to provide a high level of protection against groundwater, soluble sulphates and chlorides," the spokesman says.

Elaborating on its features, he continues: "Designed for use beneath raft slabs or behind basement walls where access is limited, Proofex Engage has a unique, patented structure which incorporates a complex cell mesh bonded to a rugged polyethylene membrane."

"The membrane provides a strong mechanical key to the poured concrete of the ground slab, and interlocks securely with it to create a tough, waterproof mechanical bond. The strength of the resulting bond ensures that if settlement occurs, Proofex Engage will maintain its adhesion to the poured concrete and continue to provide reliable protection."

"Highly durable and resistant to attack from chemicals, ground salts and typical construction-related damage, Proofex Engage will withstand inclement weather conditions and can be trafficked immediately after installation.

''It can be applied with confidence to damp surfaces and even onto compacted sand blinding on granular fill, without the need for additional protection, making it highly cost-effective and allowing flexible construction programming."

"It is supplied with a selvedge for easy joining of rolls on-site and is fully compatible with Fosroc's wide range of Proofex branded membranes, designed to satisfy all types of waterproofing challenges."

"Combined with Proofex LM, a trowel-applied liquid membrane, it also provides a durable solution to piled constructions. Proofex LM accommodates up to 200 per cent elongation and is designed to withstand to 70 m head of water pressure."

Fosroc, which has 60 years of construction experience, says its products are specified globally on many prestigious projects.

"Proofex Engage is the latest offering in a long line of high-performance solutions trusted by the construction industry," the spokesman adds.
