Etihad Cranes and Lifting Solutions has partnered with GH Cranes of Spain to provide high-performance cranes at a major project launched within the King Abdul Aziz International Airport complex in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

GH Cranes is one of the largest European crane manufacturers and a market leader in the production of special lifting equipment.

The partnership is providing 45 EOT (electric overhead travelling) cranes and a gantry crane for the project, which consists of an elaborate plant for the auxiliary maintenance of reaction jets.

“This mega project boasts of a huge investment, where this large scale-crane delivery has a total funding of $125 million,” says a spokesman for the UAE-headquartered company.

Initial work on the facility began in January 2013 and its completion is scheduled for this month (May).

He says some of the EOT cranes have two lifting speeds, bringing the total number of hoists to 71 units, making it one of the largest crane orders in the world this year, he adds.
