SAINT-GOBAIN has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Arabian government to set up a high-tech company in the solar energy sector in the country.
Under the terms of the agreement signed between Jean-Pierre Floris, senior vice-president and president of the innovative materials sector, and Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saint-Gobain will provide technical assistance and engineering expertise to build and operate a CIGS (copper, indium, gallium, selenide) thin film PV module manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.
This project is part of a larger programme which includes the construction of solar power plants in the country.
