SPPI facilities ... being expanded.

SAUDI Preinsulated Pipes Industries (SPPI) is in the midst of an expansion, in line with the continuing boom in Saudi Arabia’s construction sector. A joint venture partner of Zamil Industrial, SPPI’s fully-automated preinsulated pipe plant is scheduled to go into production by the end of this year, with an output of more than 200 sq m per hour and a maximum pipe size of 60 inches. The plant can also protect steel pipes from corrosion by coating them with fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) as well as 3LPE (three-layer polyethylene) insulation.

As part of its expansion plans, the company has also set up a new office in Dammam’s First Industrial City in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

Established in 1981 and headquartered in Riyadh, SPPI is engaged in the manufacture of preinsulated piping system and is the first company in the Middle East to utilise the spray and injection method in production. It is also involved in the production of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, steel fabrication and anti-corrosion (FBE and 3LPE) pipes protection.

SPPI utilises the latest technology in the design and manufacture of HDPE pipes with thin and thick wall thicknesses for pressure applications, with diameters ranging from 10 to 1,200 mm); and produces 3LPE and FBE systems for transportation applications in the oil and gas sector. The company, which has a branch in Zamil Industrial City in Dammam, has its manufacturing facility in Riyadh Second Industrial City.

Some of its key projects include Dubai International Airport, Jebel Ali Hotel extension, Dubai Women’s College for Higher Technology and Jumeirah Beach Resort – all in the UAE; Royal Guard of Oman, Oman; Kuwait University Shuwaikh Campus and Specialised Cardiac Centre in Kuwait; and Doha International Airport, Cultural Village phases One and Two, West Bay Complex and The Sports City in Qatar.
