RWI eyes new growth prospects

RUBBER World Industries (RWI), the leading manufacturer of closed-cell rubber insulation Gulf-O-Flex in the Gulf and South East Asia, and part of the international business conglomerate, the Shaikhani Group of Companies, has released 50 new trading products for the region’s heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) industry.

The move is aimed at tapping the potential of the UAE’s rooftop air-conditioning segment, which is estimated to be worth more than $178.6 million by 2014, said the company quoting a recent report on the UAE’s HVAC industry.

The company has also launched new and improved products that it has manufactured, such as slitting tubes, slitting tubes with adhesives, cladding tubes, cladding sheets and sheets with aluminium.

The report predicts that the rooftop air-conditioning market will grow to $57.8 million in 2012, $59.5 million in 2013 and $61.3 million in 2014, reflecting a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.98 per cent over the next four years.

R&M completes cabling project

REICHLE & De-Massari (R&M) has completed its latest cabling project with United Al Saqer Group’s Abu Dhabi Motors, the exclusive importer for BMW, Rolls-Royce, and Mini Cooper cars.

The Swiss cabling specialist supplied Abu Dhabi Motors with a customised end-to-end enterprise cabling solution, ensuring its speed, quality, and reliability.

R&M was tapped to provide the network cabling infrastructure for the renovation as well as construction of Abu Dhabi Motors’ new building premises. The project was crucial as Abu Dhabi Motors connects more than 15 branches to the United Al Saqer Group’s headquarters building.

The three-phase project consisted of connecting Abu Dhabi Motors’ administration building, the BMW showroom, and the automotive workshop.

Arjan development powered up

LA FONTANA di Trevi, a Dh80-million ($21.8 million) residential development, has become the first project in Dubai’s Arjan master community to receive electricity connection from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), paving the way for its developer, Dubai-based Triveni Builders and Promoters, to begin the handover of apartments to investors and individual home owners.

The Arjan master community is being master developed by Mizin, which is now part of Dubai Properties Group (DPG). Plans to establish a power station at Arjan were shelved in the wake of the global economic crisis but the master developer ensured that the La Fontana di Trevi got power from the Dewa substation located at the nearby Dubiotech development.

Danube launches 34th Buildmart

DANUBE Building Materials launched its 34th Buildmart showroom in Bur Dubai last month. The 7,500-sq-ft B2C stand-alone showroom, located on Computer Street, will offer an impressive collection of products that range from essential building materials to key household items including chandeliers, sanitary, ceramic tiles, wallpapers, curtains, blinds, carpets, plywood, timber, steel, hardware, flooring, gypsum and veneer.

 Meanwhile, Rizwan Sajan, the founder and chairman of the Danube Group, has been recognised as one of the top 25 Young Asian Achievers in the UAE. Sajan was presented with a plaque of recognition by Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), at a ceremony held recently at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai.  

Imdaad wins Dubai FM contract

IMDAAD, a leading provider of facilities management (FM) solutions in the UAE, recently signed a two-year contract to provide FM services to the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex in Dubai.

The agreement, which is inclusive of facility operation, and facility preventive and corrective maintenance, also covers mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) equipment/systems, air-conditioning system, civil works, IT works, soft and hard landscaping and streetlighting.

Limitless walks the green path

LIMITLESS has completed the construction of a 300-m, tree-lined, shaded walkway connecting the Jebel Ali Metro station to The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali in Dubai.

The new path underlines Limitless’ commitment to encouraging walking and the use of public transport at its developments, and reflects The Galleries’ overall theme of walkable areas for tenants and residents.

Emal marks ‘one million’ milestone

EMIRATES Aluminium (Emal), a greenfield smelter in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, achieved yet another major milestone: one million tonnes of hot metal produced.

With the average daily metal production since 2009 reaching 1,400 tonnes a day, current production stands at 2,035 tonnes of hot metal per day.

Speaking on the accomplishment, Emal President and CEO, Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, said: “With Phase Two construction now under way and expected to reach full production by 2014, Emal is well on track to meet future increased global aluminium demand.”

While reaching the million-tonne mark, Emal’s reduction potlines operated without a single pot failure.
