Gyptone ... suitable for all sizes of ceilings including large, sweeping expanses.

THE newly-launched Gyptone acoustic tiles and boards can give ceilings in the Middle East a fresh, new look, says Saint-Gobain Gyproc Middle East.

Originally developed and manufactured in Denmark, Gyptone comprises a range of perforated gypsum tiles and boards in a choice of visually exciting surface patterns.

Suitable for all sizes of ceilings from the large, sweeping expanses found in atria, restaurants and open meeting areas, to corridors and small school or library rooms, Gyptone’s stunning patterns can be enjoyed either as a large jointed monolithic design, or as more traditional exposed or hidden suspended grid ceilings, says a spokesman for the Abu Dhabi-based company.

Increasingly, Gyptone boards are also being used as wall linings to add additional absorption in sound-critical areas or to compensate for the poor acoustic effect of concrete soffits, he adds.

Gyptone tiles and boards originate from traditional gypsum board, with all of the associated performance and environmental benefits. They are perforated to full depth in a regular line, square, point or hexagonal pattern and then backed with a high-performance acoustic fleece.

“The acoustic effect of the backing fleece combines with different sizes of precision-cut perforations to provide a range of acoustic absorption levels, allowing overall performance to be engineered to give exactly the level required for the perfect acoustic ambience in each area of the building,” he says.

As well as providing the key to excellent acoustics, Gyptone with its modern patterns can be used individually, or in combination, to create striking interior effects, giving architects a new dimension to their interior designs.

Once installed, the tiles and boards can be painted over and over again, without adversely affecting their acoustic performance, ensuring that the eye-catching designs can be maintained to their original pristine condition for years to come.

“And Gyptone products come under the umbrella of the company’s SpecSure system performance warranty, providing the peace of mind that comes with all complete Gyproc systems,” says the spokesman.

The company’s latest brochure, available to view on www.gyproc.ae/literature, is designed to show architects and interior designers some of the designs that can be created with Gyptone tiles and boards.

Saint-Gobain Gyproc Middle East is part of Saint-Gobain, the world’s leading plasterboard and plaster manufacturer.  Previously active in the region for many years under the British Gypsum and BPB Gyproc brands, Gyproc Middle East opened its first dedicated $60-million plasterboard manufacturing plant in Abu Dhabi in April last year to meet the growing demand for drywall systems throughout the region.
