BAHRAIN’S Ministry of Works said it has adopted an initiative aimed at supporting ‘Green Buildings Specifications’ in line with the kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030.

The initiative seeks to provide support for projects implemented by the ministry through the application of green buildings specifications, to conserve power and protect environmental resources.

The ministry’s construction projects director Mona Al Motawa stated that her directorate has already applied green buildings specifications at a number of schools currently under construction to provide a safe and healthy environment for students.

Environment-friendly materials have been used in ducts and air-conditioners, to limit the effects on global warming, she said, adding that controlling air-conditioning loads and lighting systems also contribute to conserving energy.
