TREMCO-illbruck says it is a one-stop shop for the glazing industry. Although traditionally regarded as a sealant company, the firm points out that it is much more than just a silicone specialist as it has kept abreast of the requirements of the windows and facades market and responded with total solutions.
“The windows and facades market has seen its share of innovation as construction methods and architectural direction develops and evolves,” says a spokesman for the company.
He continues: “Globally, the drive for energy savings, green products and sustainability is as constant as the demand for ever-higher performance from building system components. Tremco-illbruck, a long-established leader in weatherproofing technology, has responded to the growing demand within the facades industry for complete solutions to the challenges of bonding, sealing, weatherproofing and fireproofing.”
“I think our glazing and facades customers still view Proglaze 2 structural silicone as the fundamental product from Tremco-illbruck but we are much more than just a silicone company,” he adds.
Tracing the growth of its product portfolio, the spokesman says: “Tremco has, for many years, offered European-produced structural silicones, insulated glass polyurethanes and silicones, weatherseals, perimeter sealants, acrylics and butyls to the glazing industry.
“From its state-of-the-art facility in the US, Tremco is also able to offer a complete range of gaskets and setting blocks, in silicone, EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) and various hybrid compounds.
“More recently, Tremco added a full range of fire-stopping products to its portfolio, all conforming to both international standards and local civil defence requirements enabling facade companies to design cost-effective, UL (Underwriters Laboratories)-certified fire-stops into their systems.
“Then in 2006, Tremco acquired illbruck Bau-Technik, which provided many more proven materials that were readily incorporated into Tremco’s product offer, such as butyl tapes, non-impregnated PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and polyethylene tapes and unique expanding impregnated polyurethane tapes (illmod 600), plus expanding PU (polyurethane) foams, a widened range of specialist adhesives and most recently EPDM membranes for air and moisture sealing.”
In addition to providing sound technical support with regard to structural glazing, Tremco-illbruck is frequently consulted to provide solutions in fire-stopping, air-sealing, acoustics and waterproofing, according to the spokesman.
“Our aim is to supply our customer with virtually everything, apart from the glass and aluminium,” the spokesman concludes.
