TEUFELBERGER has developed a new high-performance hoisting rope in keeping with the market’s expectations of high standards and extended durability.
The Evolution Q8 rope for harbour cranes and industrial applications stand apart with its exceptionally long service life and high breaking strength achieved through innovative outer compaction, says a company spokesman.
Developed in cooperation with leading crane manufacturers, the special-purpose rope is the successor of Teufelberger’s tried-and-tested Q 810 V and Q 812 F hoisting ropes.
Compared to its predecessors, Evolution Q8 has the highest service life, higher minimum breakout force, and good performance in multi-layer winding configurations, says the spokesman.
“Compared to conventional and similar products, the Evolution Q8 exhibits, in the test lab as well as in practical use, a longer service life until reaching the discard state – that is up to 40 per cent longer than the service life demonstrated by its predecessors, especially in single-layer winding configurations.”
He continues: “An innovative rope design in combination with compacted outer strands has increased the breaking strength considerably as compared to conventional steel wire ropes (by more than 20 per cent) and vis-à-vis other products of this rope category (by more than five per cent).
“As a result of its compacted outer strands, Evolution Q8 is ideal for multi-layer winding configurations – even in difficult conditions. This permits long and trouble-free use in permanent operation and helps reduce downtime to a minimum.”
The rope is said to be suited for use on van carriers, mobile harbour cranes, RTG (rubber-tyred gantry) and RMG (rail-mounted gantry) cranes, ship-to-shore cranes, loading bridges, pontoon cranes, grab excavators, and indoor cranes with low lifting height.
